Zoe Polyzopoulou

Zoe Polizopoulou studied Veterinary Medicine at the School of Veterinary Medicine of Aristotle
University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She continued her studies at the same academic institution and received the PhD degree in 1991.
She was appointed as lecturer at the School of Veterinary Medicine A.U.Th. in 1998 and was subsequently promoted to assistant professor, associate professor and full professor (2015).
She is the Head of the Diagnostic Laboratory at the Department of Clinical Studies since 2016 and the Director of the Postgraduate Training Programme (Masters Degree) at the same Department. She is also a regular evaluator of the Companion Animals postgraduate training programmes run through Veterinary Continuous Education in Europe (VetCEE) and FVE.
Z. Polizopoulou is a founding member of the European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) and has been reaccredited for the EBVS™ European Specialist in Veterinary Clinical Pathology title in 2008, 2014 and 2018. In 2019 she was elected as Vice President of the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation.
She is a member of the Hellenic Veterinary Medical Society (HVMS) representing it at FECAVA and WSAVA, the European Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology, the European Society of Veterinary Neurology, the International Society of Feline Medicine.
She has been chair of the organizing/scientific committee of 3 European (ECVCP and ECVN) and many national veterinary conferences, training seminars and workshops organized by HVMS and focusing on Veterinary Clinical Pathology and Neurology.
She has published approximately 140 scientific papers mostly in peer review journals (For 2020: total citations 1592, h-index 20, i10-index 39) and is the co-author in 3 textbooks of the student reading lists. She has participated in over 90 national and international veterinary conferences, presenting short communications or state of the art lectures in most of them.
Her scientific and research interests mainly include Veterinary Clinical Pathology (hematology and clinical biochemistry) and Veterinary Neurology. Recently her research has focused on the clinical significance of various biomarkers in cardiology (canine endocardiosis) and neurology (canine epilepsy, senile cognitive dysfunction).
